Yes, I’m looking at commander too, by the way. Look, I’m frustrated with constructed, not only online but in real life as well, where it becomes a matter of “who’s got the most expensive deck”. Worse, don’t even expect to build a deck “around” the meta: if you craft a deck that is particularly designed to win against the deck you encounter the most, surprise, the MTG Arena algorithm will stop pitting you against that very deck, only for you to face something else that is better than the deck you crafted. If you are just a tiny little bit competitive (aren’t we all?) and play Constructed ranked, the game becomes a frustrating grind from start to finish: forget about build a fun deck, you’ll have to copy/paste the best winning deck from one of the many sites that provide it, and you’ll only face two or three different decks in the hundreds of games you’ll have to go through on your way to mythic. ![]() Maybe an unpopular opinion, but, except for the occasional “standard refresh” every year or so, the variety of decks you see (what people refer to as “the meta”) at a given time is insanely limited. It was part of my “ 10 popular boards games that didn’t work for me“, and for a specific reason: I really don’t like the person I become when I play Magic, MTG Arena in particular, and within that game, the Constructed Ranked play. Magic The Gathering is a game I had kind of given up on.

![]() One-Dimensional (1D): These are probably the barcodes that you’re most familiar with - a set of bars on a product box or sticker.Barcode Typesīroadly speaking, there are two types of barcodes: GS1 US is a nonprofit organization that manages barcode assignments. It’s possible to look up a company by their UPC identification on the GS1 US website. The first six to nine digits in a barcode are the company’s identification number. After deciphering the code, the scanner connects with the user’s database, quickly identifying the product that was scanned. Today’s scanners review a barcode, evaluating the size of lines and spaces, each of which stands for a unique character. The black bars can only be read from one direction, but they don’t blur under high-speed scanning, making them ideal for use in commercial warehouses and factories. In order to bring the bull’s eye code into the digital age, Laurer developed the modern barcode, recognizable on product labels everywhere. engineer, George Laurer, noted, running the bull’s eye past a scanner at high speed - as might happen in a factory setting - had a tendency to blur the code, making it difficult to read. ![]() However, the circular design had a problem. Silver and Woodland’s code was modeled after a bull’s eye so that it could be read from any direction. The system that Silver and Woodland originally came up with was based on a series of circles, compared to the straight lines that define modern UPCs. By devising a system that could be read by an optical scanner, Silver and Woodland reasoned, they could save an enormous amount of time in grocery stores and cut down on cashier errors. Up until this time, cashiers everywhere had to enter an item’s price manually at the register, making the checkout process comparatively slow and tedious. How Barcodes Workīarcodes (or universal product code or UPC) can trace their history back to the 1940s, when inventors Bernard Silver and Norman Joseph Woodland wanted to develop a system for grocery stores that could automatically read product information at checkout. ![]() Small businesses need to understand how barcodes work and how they can be deployed in the workplace for streamlining processes, asset management, and employee accountability. However, they’re also essential for internal inventory control or working with suppliers. They’re impossible to miss in a retail setting, where they play a critical role in closing sales. ![]() She’s a pretty straightforward Medusa, dressed in something vaguely Grecian, and sporting a ‘do of the finest snakes. You’re 11% to victory! There’s also one hidden/bonus monster, and the final boss. Half a point will be provided for “almost” guesses, which will be noted for each monster. There are twelve monsters, so guessing each monster will net you one point. So, can you guess the identities of the Battle Monsters? Because no one involved in Battle Monsters was all that creative, all of the monsters are basic archetypes that you might see lurking around mythology or 90’s pop culture. Get out your pen and paper or notepad.exe or whatever, we’re going to play a guessing game.īattle Monsters, as you may be able to tell from the title, features battling monsters. To be blunt, Battle Monsters isn’t very good, but that doesn’t mean we can’t derive some enjoyment from its existence. I’d say this seems like an unforeseen “glitch”, but I learned it from the AI, so you’d think someone would have noticed it before shipping the thing. Unfortunately, this feature wasn’t really implemented well, and it just leads to a number of matches where you can get a hit, leap to higher ground, and then defend that platform via whacking your opponent every time he jumps, and just wait for time to run out. The “innovation” du jour seems to be that many arenas contain weird little platforms, more appropriate in Mega Man than Street Fighter, that you can hop on for some aerial advantages or… something. But, don’t worry, you’ll suffer when you play the game, as it’s one of those incredibly rote fighting games where producers who barely understood the fireball motion attempted to ape Street Fighter’s success. Battle Monsters relies heavily on digitized humans, ala Pit Fighter or Mortal Kombat 1, but has the added advantage of featuring a bunch of “monsters”, which means some poor woman got to wear a snake wig under searing lights. "Imagine being 12, being tired, and then you have to listen really closely to a talking rock that may or may not be telling you how to get the item you're looking for. Keeli did not find this particularly helpful. To boot, Olmec spoke in uncertainties: You might want to go into this room. That's 163 words of instructions from Olmec, during which he mentioned 14 rooms to enter and six different puzzles to solve. When I watched this show as a kid, I always wondered whether this was so, because there is no way Olmec's set of instructions would have sufficed: Keeli and her teammate were allowed a guided tour of the Temple, during which they were shown the locations of various doors and switches. "If I recall correctly, we were the first day of filming for the first season of this show, so I don't think the show-runners had really any idea that this game was practically impossible for a kid between the ages of 12 and 14 to complete." Of course, neither Keeli nor anyone else knew that. Over the 120-episode run of the show, only 32 teams would ever win the Temple Run round. The Temple Run was held in a maze of over a dozen rooms, full of ladders, switches, puzzles and Temple Guards. "To be honest," Keeli says, "I thought we were pretty much dead in the water on the Steps of Knowledge because my partner was an abject idiot." Keeli did all her team's work on her own, correctly answering all three of her questions to send the Red Jaguars forward in the tournament. By the time their Temple Run began, Keeli and her Red Jaguars teammate had spent the last 12 hours advancing through various rounds of competition, including the Steps of Knowledge, in which they were given a brief history lesson and answered a series of trivia questions accordingly. Keeli, then 12 years old, appeared on the "Stone Marker of Leif Erikson" episode. Two decades later, it seems like a wonder that anyone completed it at all. For the sake of experimentation, we duplicated every track in the project, almost doubling the demands on the system. However, the real-time peak meter fell from a highly volatile reading in version 7.5, with regular overloads, to a steady reading of around 15% in version 8. I want to try opening the project on Cubase 8. In both version 7.5 and version 8, the average load meter hovered at around 50%. I am having serious issues with Cubase 9.0 freezing when trying to open a project. The software has a performance monitor with three meters for average load, real-time peak and disk. Loading the same project into Cubase 8 Pro saw the glitches disappear completely. In fact, you can use the software for years and still not tap into every type of benefit that is offered in there. This project was already prone to drop-outs in version 7.5, but we added some extra effects and virtual instruments for good measure to guarantee lots of playback glitches.
